Dr. Jakovs “Jascha” Borodeckis is a classically trained violinist, pianist and an instructor. Originally from the Baltic shores of Latvia, he received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, Austria, followed by doctoral studies at the University of Maryland, USA, where Jascha received the Doctor of Musical Arts degree. Dr. Borodeckis has also received training in Baroque violin at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music.
He has worked at the International School of Music in Bethesda, Maryland, before launching his own private studio on Capitol Hill, Washington D.C. Post the completion of the doctoral studies, Jascha has shifted his devotion from classical violin to contemporary and atmospheric piano music. In search of new inspirational sources, Jascha has begun undertaking classes in composition at the Vienna Music Institute of Contemporary Music in Vienna, Austria. His mentors have been Prof. Yair Kless, Prof. Ida Bieler and Dr. Irina Muresanu.
Dr. Borodeckis has been generously supported throughout his US career by Saint Anselm's Abbey in Washington D.C. where he has also lead his own concert cycle. His private sponsor and a mentor in Austria was Dr. Günther Ziesel. Dr. Borodeckis also works on diverse charity projects such as the Adelana Project in Botswana. The 2026 season is focused on the interdisciplinary project “Metamorphosis” with the performances and recordings in Austria and Cyprus. Dr. Borodeckis plays the 1756 violin from Lübeck, Germany.
